“These photographs are an invitation to the viewer to accompany me to the silent oases of our time. To places that nourish. That touch.” Christian Klant

The darkness of this world is essential, but darkness is only perceptible when there is also light. Looking at Christian Klants landscapes has the same sensory effect as walking from a darkened room to an open door into full sunlight. At first your sensitivity is startled and then your eyes begin to acclimate to the scene and you feel the sun upon you. These unique records on metal plates are as hard edged visually as the material upon which they are made. Middle values are removed to reveal a world that exists only when you momentarily blink your eyes to catch a glimpse of the raw scene before you.
